PWSC Facilities Maintenance and Operations is looking for an experienced Building Maintenance Supervisor. The candidate should have extensive experience with Facilities Maintenance in commercial, military or educational environments. Must have knowledge, skills and abilities to supervise and lead approximately 3-5 multi skill level staff in the construction and maintenance activities for University facilities. Candidate should be comfortable using a computer as well as managing work and in the field directing/verifying building maintenance activities. Candidate should be familiar with building codes and regulations and workplace safety conscious.

Extensive experience with Facilities Maintenance in commercial, campus (Higher Ed, health care, military) or educational environments. Must have skills and knowledge to lead union staff up to journeyman level in the construction and maintenance aspects of carpentry, general building maintenance, access control (including locks and electronic access), painting and roofing trades. Must be proficient in reading blueprints and schematics with the ability to interpret construction sketches and drawings. Must be familiar with state, local, OSHA and ADA codes and regulations, as well as carry hazmat certification. Must have solid computer skills, be able to utilize a work management system to manage daily work, coordination, long term planning and budget monitoring. Will be expected to complete and review estimates and manage property damage insurance claims. Needs to be energy conscious and safety orientated. Should have experience working in a union environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School education or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of further education required or education and equivalent work experience. Experience in Facilities Maintenance and/or the Construction Field with supervision/management experience is highly desired. 

An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

A degree in Construction Management, Building Technology or Engineering is a plus. 40 hour HAZWOPER training, or other OSHA training(s) desired. Related Professional Development classes and/or certificates are desired.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Prince William Sound College campus in Valdez. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
