The Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position for veterinarians with clinical experience. We are seeking a team-orientated faculty member to enthusiastically instruct students and develop new curriculum content in Fairbanks, where phenomenal outdoor recreational opportunities exist year round. General practitioners and board certified specialists are encouraged to apply. Ideal applicants would have extensive high quality clinical experience.

As faculty you would be joining a group of colleagues with diverse DVM knowledge and specialties in curriculum development and instruction of a small cohort of first and second-year veterinary students. The UAF Department of Veterinary Medicine does not have a teaching hospital or conventional clinical obligations. The primary role of this position is for instruction and curriculum development. The applicant will take a leadership role for course material in areas they have expertise in. This faculty appointment will focus on teaching and university service but may include research if interest and qualifications align. Opportunities may exist for collaborative research. Opportunities to mentor and advise graduate students are also available. New faculty in the Department of Veterinary Medicine will join a small teaching team that works closely with faculty at Colorado State University to deliver our 2+2 DVM curriculum. The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring veterinary students, extensive veterinary clinical experience, and additional skills in topics relevant to the first two years of the DVM curriculum.

To thrive in this role you must be enthusiastic about the education of students, be able to collaborate with colleagues, and be willing to contribute to curriculum development. A commitment to delivering a high quality educational experience is essential. Board certification or residency training in nutrition or internal medicine is highly desired but not required. Candidates with an interest and broad clinical experience including these topics are encouraged to apply. You must be comfortable providing lab sessions with live animals, simulators, and cadaver material. The ideal candidate would have advanced training, clinical experience, teaching experience, and enthusiasm for joining a small team and living in the small community of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a DVM or equivalent international degree.
At least 1 year of postgraduate clinical experience is required. General clinical practice or specialist practice are acceptable.
Teaching experience with veterinary students is highly desired.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Alaska is highly desired.

Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha’ campus in Fairbanks, AK. This is a full-time, 9-month base appointment, FLSA exempt faculty position complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
