The Department of Psychology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applicants for a tripartite (teaching/research/service) tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of August 2025. We have a particular need for candidates with experience in teaching both in-class and online courses with multicultural proficiency and an ability to teach across multiple areas of psychology. Area of specialization is open with preference given to those with expertise in behavioral or mental health psychology (i.e., clinical, counseling, or related). Our undergraduate program is one of the largest at UAF, a small research university. Our department offers a growing undergraduate degree program, and we are seeking applicants interested in becoming an integral part of this growth. Our undergraduate curriculum is delivered in face-to-face, online, and hybrid modalities, and is designed to develop critical thinking, honor diversity, and promote human welfare. Psychology majors enjoy opportunities for participation in undergraduate research as well as community-based learning experiences. We seek applicants who can add to the breadth and diversity of our program while expanding in-class and out-of-class opportunities for psychology students.

To thrive in this role, an applicant will teach a wide range of psychology courses, maintain a collaborative research agenda, mentor students in academics and in research, incorporate cultural and diverse perspectives into all courses, be an engaging contributor to the department’s growth, maintain proficiency in pedagogy for face-to-face and online courses, and contribute to the university, community, and the discipline of psychology.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Teaching undergraduate psychology courses as instructor of record
● Developing and teaching interactive online courses
● Developing and teaching face-to-face courses
● Teaching across multiple areas of psychology
● Mentoring undergraduate students
● Interest and/or experience in working with diverse populations
● Using instructional technologies in instruction
● Doctoral degree in psychology at time of appointment, ABD minimum at time of application

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, tenure track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
