The University of Alaska, College of Natural Science and Mathematics, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is looking for exceptional candidates who have completed a graduate course of study in Organic Chemistry and have a passion for teaching.

As a tenure-track faculty member, you will teach introductory, upper division, and graduate courses in topics related to organic chemistry and general chemistry in both in-person (primary focus) and distance classroom and lab modalities; mentor graduate and undergraduates students; and establish a vigorous research program that complements existing departmental strengths. Service duties will include committee work, participation in curriculum review and development, service to the profession, mentoring of undergraduate and graduate research, and appropriate service to the public. The department maintains modern research instrumentation including a 600 MHz NMR and UAF has access to state-of-the-art computational facilities. We would like for the successful candidate to be able to start in person at the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester.

To thrive in this role, candidates must have a focus on organic chemistry, with post-doctoral experience highly preferred; experience working with a diverse population of students/co-workers; be able to support student retention and assist students in achieving academic and professional success. A successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, collaborative and presentation skills, and the ability to design and teach courses. Individuals who are self-motivated, student-centered, and believe in excellence through research, collaboration, adaptability and creativity will flourish within UAF's CNSM Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a PhD (or equivalent) in Organic Chemistry, research experience in areas related to organic and/or environmental chemistry and/or Biochemistry. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yedda campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, 9-month base, tenure track faculty position. Competitive salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience.
