The College of Liberal Arts Department of Justice invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Justice located on the University of Alaska Fairbanks Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska beginning in the 2024-25 academic year (August 2024).

The UAF Justice Department is a small, cohesive faculty unit within the College of Liberal Arts. The successful applicant will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses at the university level in different modalities. They must have a commitment to the students and the ability and willingness to collaborate with faculty within the department, the College, and throughout the University.

Candidates shall demonstrate excellence in teaching and advising. Teaching duties include Undergraduate and Graduate courses in Justice, as well as course development at both levels. The successful applicant must be qualified to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and mentor graduate students in the Justice Programs. They must hold office hours appropriate for the courses being taught and develop and modify curriculum for distance delivery and other teaching modalities.

To thrive in this position applicants should have a solid foundation in Criminal Justice or Restorative Justice and be willing to serve our community, state, and University.

Located in Alaska’s second-largest city, UAF, founded in 1917, is the University of Alaska’s flagship campus and boasts a diverse student body with more than 7,000 graduate and undergraduate students, world-class research, and a wildly popular NCAA Division I hockey team. Minimum Qualifications:

A PhD in Criminal Justice or Criminology or a PhD in a justice-related discipline with demonstrable education or field experience in Criminal Justice is required. Applicants with a Juris Doctorate or equivalent plus field experience in criminal or restorative justice will also be considered. Teaching experience at the university level and experience in internet-based instruction are required.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, in-person, tenure track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Salary will be based on education and experience.
