Assistant Professor of Automotive and Diesel Technology

The CTC Transportation & Power Division is recruiting qualified applicants for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Automotive and Diesel Technology. This position is responsible for teaching courses in the Automotive and Diesel Technology program. The person hired for this position will be responsible for coordination and delivery of coursework and scheduling in support of industry partners; facilitating professional development courses; recruiting, selecting, and advising students in the Automotive and Diesel Technology program; identifying and meeting the educational needs of the students; student placement and follow-up with practicum sites; development, revision, assessment of competency-based curriculum; and participation in department and related professional activities.

The Community and Technical College (CTC), one of eight UAA schools and colleges, is a major center for development and delivery of professional, career and technical, community, and continuing education programs.
The Transportation & Power Division of UAA's Community and Technical College provides education and preparation for students entering the fields of Automotive Technology, Heavy-Duty Diesel Power Technology, Welding Technology, and Non-Destructive Testing Technology. Courses are offered at the certificate and associate degree levels.

This program supports the University of Alaska bipartite mission of performing teaching and public service. The teaching assignment may include travel to off-campus sites. Teaching assignments are determined by college needs and the individual's background and experience.

Documented evidence of successful use of instructional technologies and/or distance delivery technologies or compelling evidence supporting the capacity to do so.

It is anticipated that the person hired for this position will be the primary faculty member assigned to work with both of the UAA Automotive and Diesel Technology programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

An Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology or a closely related field is required within 3 (three) years of hire; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Qualifying earned degrees must be conferred by institutions of higher education that are accredited by one of the six US regional accrediting associations.

A Master level certification A1-A8 and L1 and G1 through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or Master Diesel Certification T2-T8, L2 and G1 is required within 6 months of hire; maintenance of ASE certifications required to meet and maintain ASE Education Foundation accreditation is a condition of employment.

The successful candidate must document a desire to maintain up-to-date technical expertise. A minimum of 20 hours of technical professional development related to the automotive and diesel industry within the past 12 months is required.

The successful candidate is required to supply official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska.
