The Assistant Director of Graduate Operations at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Graduate School is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily administrative functions that support graduate education. This position ensures the effective implementation of academic procedures, student services, and program operations in alignment with university policies and the strategic goals of the Graduate School. Reporting directly to the Director, the Assistant Director collaborates closely with students, faculty, and staff to improve processes, enhance service delivery, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role plays a vital part in fostering a positive graduate experience through responsive communication, event coordination, and the management of essential academic operations.

Success in this role requires strong organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities across graduate and interdisciplinary programs. Ideal candidates will be proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented, with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement. A solid understanding of higher education and graduate programs, coupled with technical proficiency, is also essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field, four years progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferences: * Trained in mediation, management, and leadership.
* Advanced office computer skills

Position Details:

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
