To truly excel as an Assistant Director of Acceleration Academy Operations & Academics, the ideal candidate will leverage experience in an educational setting to be an organized, detail-oriented leader with a proactive approach to student support and program development. A background in education will be invaluable, as will the application of strong communication, conflict resolution, and behavior management skills when interacting with students, parents, and staff. The ability to interpret and enforce policies and procedures consistently and fairly is crucial, as is maintaining clear, professional boundaries with students and staff. This role requires sound judgment and decision-making, particularly in complex situations and during emergencies. Success also requires the ability to efficiently multitask, delegate work effectively, and foster a collaborative environment for temporary and student employees. Experience in curriculum/program design and implementation for school-aged children, coupled with a working knowledge of risk management practices, will be highly beneficial.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or education field and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • At least 2 years of management experience in a school or youth development program
  • Teaching certification preferred.
  • Current CPR with AED/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Experience working with rural and/or Indigenous Alaska populations preferred.
  • This position requires driving an ANSEP vehicle. If driving is required, a valid AK driver's license and three years of driving with a clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required. Must be 21 years or older to drive with minors.
  • Must be able to lift or move 25 to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff (salary) position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
