The UAF Athletic Department is a tight-knit team that collaborates to support both its members and student-athletes. The Athletic Training Department operates with the following mission and seeks a candidate whose personality aligns with its dedicated team.

Our mission is to promote the physical and mental well-being of all UAF student-athletes by focusing on the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries. When necessary, we ensure injured Nanook athletes are referred to the appropriate medical providers for further care.

To excel as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, the ideal candidate must be a hardworking, self-motivated individual. They should be comfortable working both in Fairbanks and traveling with the team for extended periods. The role requires the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with colleagues when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field and four years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional licensure may be required that is commensurate with the appropriate level. NATABOC (National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification) certification required. Master’s degree preferred.

BOC Certified Athletic Trainer from CAATE Accredited Program Active Alaska Athletic Training License (or eligible to receive one) Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Athletic Training or related field Must be certified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, 21.5 pay period, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
