Join the team on the nationally recognized, award winning Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP). ANSEP has been working for 30 years to provide an excellent education and a life of unlimited possibilities for every Alaskan, through improving academic outcomes and while reducing educational costs to families and government. ANSEP is seeking two Manager positions to manage all aspects of our residential facilities and experiences. The ANSEP dormitory houses students of various ages, from middle school to college age. Our new Dorm Managers will be responsible for leading all aspects of the student residential experience in our ANSEP dormitory. As the main points of contact supporting our dormitory facilities, the Dorm Managers will coordinate with ANSEP programmatic staff, contractors, university partners, and the residents to assure all ANSEP residents are safe, healthy, and successful during their ANSEP experience. This position will manage inventory of all supplies, furniture, appliances, and any other items used by dormitory residents. This position will assure that all dorm rooms are cleaned, furnished, and outfitted with all necessary supplies between guest stays, as well as help coordinate facility needs. ANSEP will be hiring two staff members to work closely together to manage the dormitory. This position requires serves as the primary on call staff for our all summer programs during the evening and weekends night. Shifts will be shared between two Manager positions.

To thrive in this role, our Dorm Manager should have experience in academic program management, great communication and planning skills, empathy for young residential students, great interpersonal problem solving skills, and a passion for helping people succeed along their academic journey. A bachelor's degree in education or another academic discipline, including fields related to working with children and/or a significant combination of clearly demonstrated training/experience in directly related fields is required along with 3 years of progressively responsible experience in related fields (or clearly demonstrated education, experience, and/or training in directly related fields). A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelors Degree in an applicable academic discipline, including fields related to working with children, such as child development, education,
behavioral sciences, cultural studies, STEM and/or a significant combination of clearly demonstrated training/experience
in directly related fields. Master’s degree is preferred.
● 3 years of progressively responsible experience in fields related to working with children, such as child development, education, behavioral
sciences, cultural studies. or clearly demonstrated education, experience, and/or training in directly related fields.
● Experience with educational programs that support residential students.
● Knowledge of policies and procedures utilized to support health, safety, and success of students in living communities in academic settings.
● Abilities to effectively communicate rules and regulations to students of varying ages related to academic and residential environments.
● Ability to mentor, advise and counsel students.
● Experience supervising and training staff.
● Experience in communicating and solving high priority issues involving confidential information with multiple stakeholders in an effective,
timely, and sensitive manner.
● Able to fact find, confront, mediate, document, and report student conduct issues and violations.
● Ability to organize and prepare community building activities for residential students.
● Knowledgeable of the google suite and record keeping.
● Decision-making strategies and problem-solving skills.
● Knowledge of, and the ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, processes, policies, and procedures related to educational institutions
supporting all academic levels.
● Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and shift between tasks that need to be accomplished along similar and different timescales.
● Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
● Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
● Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
● Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
● Ability to manage budgets preferred
● Experience working in an organization that supports diversity, equity and inclusion and multicultural environments.
● Ability to be on-call outside normal working hours and days, including nights and weekends.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time, exempt, temporary staff position, New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
