The UAA College of Arts and Sciences is recruiting qualified applicants for its pool of part-time adjunct instructors in Languages. We offer elementary and intermediate-level courses in American Sign Language, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. We are seeking applicants who possess a desire to help students succeed in reaching their goals. Applicants must be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment. No relocation expenses will be paid for adjunct instruction. Join us and help turn student aspirations into reality!

Adequate language and teaching skills are necessary for this position. The successful candidate will have knowledge of accepted instruction methods and be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. The successful candidate will have public speaking skills.

Demonstrable skills in teaching the target language at the lower-division level; sensitivity to a diverse student population; ability to provide a strong pedagogical foundation to classes of 20-30 students; familiarity with the integration of technology into the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have expertise and experience relevant to teaching the specific course content. Successful candidates must have a master's degree is the minimum educational qualification. Knowledge of second-language acquisition and teaching methodologies is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to abide by all departmental, college, and University principles.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part-time, adjunct represented temporary position. New hires will be placed on the adjunct salary scheduled as outline in the UNAD CBA, based on education and experience. 

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
