UAF Community and Technical College’s Learning Center is seeking an experienced Academic Assistant for our Debbie Moses Learning Center. This vital role supports students in achieving their academic goals, assisting university and local high school students, and the Fairbanks community both in-person and online. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule.
As an Academic Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome academic challenges. Your responsibilities include using Learning Management Systems like Canvas and Blackboard, Google Suite, and other tools to guide students. Strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to address academic barriers, and proficiency in various learning styles are key. Effective communication with students and faculty, coaching through the college process, and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with FERPA guidelines are essential aspects of the role.
Candidates should possess professional-level knowledge or the ability to become proficient in Learning Management Systems and Google Suite. Strong problem-solving skills, time management, and clear communication with a diverse student population are necessary. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule and the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' academic success. Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, although a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Successful candidates will have 6 months to 3 years (or more) classroom or tutorial experience, or the equivalent.
Position Details:
This is a part time position with flexible hours. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Temporary Salary Schedule, Grade 77, step 1.
