UAA is seeking an experienced fundraising professional for a Senior Development Officer position for the Honors College in the Office of University Advancement. The Senior Development Officer will work with university leadership and executive-level volunteers to build private support for a variety of high priority initiatives which reinforce the university's strategic vision and extend UAA's brand. This individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of major gifts, grants and contracts, and high-end annual donors and prospective donors. Increasing emphasis is being placed on qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting individual donors, particularly alumni. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in closing major and planned gifts, grants, and contracts.
This Senior Development Officer will work closely with the dean to develop and execute strategic fundraising initiatives for the Honors College initiatives for UAA’s Honors College has over 100 currently accepted students with track specialties in Leadership, Community Engagement, Research and Creative Activity, and Global and Multicultural Studies.

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alaska Anchorage invites applicants for a tenure track assistant professor position in Genetics/Genomics. Candidates with expertise in genetics/genomics of wildlife, fish, plants, eukaryotic model organisms or microbes, or in population or conservation genetics, are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities are four courses per year, including Principles of Genetics, and upper division and graduate electives specific to the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful applicant will incorporate indigenous ways of knowing into their teaching and/or research.
A PhD in genetics/genomics, biological sciences, or a closely related discipline, and a record of research productivity are required. Postdoctoral or equivalent experience and evidence of independent funding are preferred. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, and teaching experience is preferred. The successful applicant will contribute to research and teaching in the Department by developing an extramurally funded research program involving graduate and undergraduate students and teaching courses within our BA and BS in Biological Sciences, BS in Natural Sciences, and MS in Biological Sciences degrees.
The Department of Biological Sciences at UAA specializes in Biomedical and Ecosystem Health Sciences with three core research foci: cellular, molecular and microbial biology; physiology and physiological ecology; and boreal and polar ecosystem ecology.
