Project Coordinator – Alaska Alliance for Community Engagement Fairbanks
The Center for Alaska Native Health Research is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to manage and cultivate partnerships on a research award funded by the National Institutes of Health. The Alaska Alliance for Community Engagement- Climate and Health (AK ACE-CH) network will bring together a diverse, multi-disciplinary and community-engaged team of experts to assess and co-develop strategies to mitigate climate change and health impacts in remote and rural regions of Alaska where the sustainability of Alaska Native (AN) communities and cultural ways of living are most highly threatened, and health disparities are already among the highest in the world. The AK ACE-CH will focus on the engagement of rural and Indigenous populations in research at the intersections of climate change and health. The AK ACE-CH Project Coordinator manages and cultivates partnerships for the project with Alaska Native community groups, organizations, and other stakeholders to advance rural engagement activities. This position develops strategies and community engagement initiatives for working with community partners throughout the state and attends meetings to assess partnership opportunities, build relationships and communicate AK ACE-CH mission objectives. In addition this position will engage AN communities in a process of knowledge co-production to create culturally-sound assessment tools that examine the health effects of changes to the weather and subsistence resources across a broad set of rural AN communities.
