IT Support Technician Sitka
The Sitka Campus is seeking an IT Support Technician. This entry-level position is a good fit for someone interested in an Information Technology career with a potential for promotion as skill levels and responsibilities increase. This is an ideal position for a university student and offers on-the-job training. This is a part-time position with benefits, including university tuition waivers. A flexible work environment will be provided, with a combination of on-campus and remote work possible.
SBDC Rural Center Director Anchorage
While the Alaska SBDC has many centers and advisors in physical locations in the major population centers across the state, there are over 250 communities that also need SBDC’s services. The Rural Center Director manages a virtual center that provides business advising services to rural entrepreneurs located in those communities. Over the past two years, the number of clients served by the Rural Center has increased 140% and continues to grow. The Rural Center Director provides business advising, develops online and stand alone business development tools, hosts in person and online events and trainings, develops and engages in partnerships geared towards supporting rural Alaska entrepreneurs and businesses. This position will focus on identifying new ways that the Alaska SBDC can continue to support rural Alaskan businesses to help them launch and grow. This will help the Alaska SBDC continue to not only cover the entire state, but also focus our efforts on the communities and businesses that don’t have access to the resources and support found in larger communities who need help the most.

Cooperative Alaska Forest Inventory, Temporary Fairbanks
The Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station is seeking a part-time technician who will collect forest and natural resource inventory data on permanent sample plots throughout Alaska. This position spends a majority of time in the field throughout the summer and works as a crew member with 3-4 other inventory technicians. The position provides opportunities to visit various forest sites across the State, including Copper River Basin, Tok, and Kenai Peninsula. Work schedule is mostly 8 days on and 6 days off, which allows plenty of time off to enjoy the Alaskan summer outside of work. This position requires travel away from Fairbanks via the road system and camping for 8 days at a time. The position requires working long hours in the field. Travel means mainly consists of highway vehicle, but may also include boat and ATV.

Custodian Juneau

The incumbent will clean and protect university facilities, grounds and surrounding areas by performing custodial maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning/sanitizing and restocking restrooms, grounds keeping and removing snow, ice and debris. The Toolik Field Station (TFS) at the Institute of Arctic Biology, a remote field camp located at 284.5 Dalton Highway, is seeking a motivated candidate to work as a Seasonal Field Operations Technician during the 2022 summer field season. TFS is a remote facility located 360 road miles north of Fairbanks on the rural Dalton Highway. There are no local services. The population of the station can vary from 3 to 150 residents (over 400 different individuals annually) coming from all over the world. This position will be stationed at Toolik for the duration of the season (dates are flexible and could range from May-September depending on availability). Due to COVID19, a paid mandatory quarantine in Fairbanks with testing will be required and arranged by Toolik before deploying to the station. Breaks during the shift will be taken in camp.
