North Star Middle College Director Fairbanks
The University of Alaska Fairbanks is searching for a director for the North Star College, a middle college for high school students in collaboration with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. Executive Director, Alaska Native Education and Outreach Anchorage
Reporting to the chancellor and serving as a member of the chancellor’s cabinet, this new leadership position will serve as the principal advisor, planner and implementor on Alaska Native programs and initiatives, working effectively within the highly decentralized context of Alaska Native-serving units at all campuses of University of Alaska Anchorage. The Executive Director will provide leadership for and will manage and track chancellor and UAA outreach to Alaska Native tribes, non-profit organizations, and corporations to develop and enhance strategic partnerships. The Executive Director will provide high-level leadership using data to measure the level and effectiveness of current UAA Native serving programs and to monitor the effectiveness of new initiatives. The Executive Director will also provide leadership in developing a vision and written plan and provide for how Alaska Native programs (e.g., Alaska Native Studies, ANSEP, RRANN, NSS, and others) in collaboration with and support each other for realization of the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (D&IAP), Alaska Native student, faculty, and staff recruitment and retention goals, alignment with UAA 2025, and closing achievement gaps for Alaska Native students throughout all UAA campuses. In addition, the Executive Director will provide leadership for seeking extramural funding. Understanding the data on Alaska Native student success, including academic and social preparation for college, retention, graduation rates, as well as Alaska Native faculty retention and mentoring are central to this position.

Research Computing Systems (RCS), in the UAF Geophysical Institute (GI), is looking for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator/Analyst/Engineer to join our team of research cyberinfrastructure analysts and engineers. Founded in 1948, the GI is a world-renowned center for the study of geophysics from the sun to the center of the Earth. RCS is a dynamic group of IT professionals developing and maintaining a core set of cyberinfrastructure services for a wide variety of UA research projects, and specific systems and networks for researchers. RCS team members work together and independently to ensure researchers have a high performing and adaptable network, storage, compute, web, and hosted systems services they can depend on to conduct their research. The successful candidate will work with RCS team members to support petabyes of scalable online and offline storage, support hundreds of terabytes of parallel filesystem capacity, and help develop new storage services required by numerous researchers . They will also help support UAF’s high performance compute cluster and a highly available virtual systems hosting platform. RCS has a very flexible office environment and collaborates with multiple groups throughout the GI and within UA’s Office of Information Technology.
