The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Executive Assistant to the Chancellor.
This position encompasses three primary roles:
● Administrative and Operational Support
● Office Management and Budget Oversight
● Organizational Support
The selected candidate will report directly to the UAS Chancellor. This position offers an opportunity to work with the leadership at UAS to manage and lead staff, business operations and the budget for the Office of the Chancellor and Provost. The focus is on the ability to plan, direct and coordinate the work of others and to lead groups to consensus. And an ability to analyze data, issues, and situations and propose viable solutions and or a course of action is desired. This position will guide and manage the Office of the Chancellor and offer strategic support and advice to the Chancellor.
To thrive in this role you will need to be able to organize and direct the administrative functions of the chancellor’s office, manage and lead day to day operations, ensuring a professional and confidential work environment. You will need to be able organize and direct both the financial functions of the chancellor’s office and the provost’s office while also supporting and participating in the chancellor’s core and full cabinet. You will need the ability to recognize and suggest instances and events where the chancellor and/or university can generate goodwill and help form the strategic framework for the chancellor’s communications and interactions.
Further, in this role you will work closely with UA and UAS Administration to coordinate and prepare for meetings, tours, campus visits involving state and federal officials and supervise, train, motivate support staff.
The ideal candidate will be an individual with an ability and desire to work with colleagues from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. The University of Alaska Southeast campuses reside on the unceded territories of the ÁakʼwḴwáan, Taantʼá Ḵwáan, and Sheetkʼá Ḵwáan on Lingít Aaní (Tlingit land), also known as Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka, Alaska, adjacent to the ancestral home of the X̱aadas (Haida) and Ts’msy-en (Tsimshian).
The Juneau area is in the territory of the Áakʼw Ḵwáan (People of the Little Lake) and is home to the largest Federally Recognized Tribe in Alaska: Tlingit & Haida. It is also home to the Douglas Indian Association, Sealaska Corporation headquarters, and Goldbelt Corporation. The City of Juneau is the state capital and the largest city in southeastern Alaska. The city offers a flourishing downtown business and arts scene, an extensive library system, and public transportation. As Alaska’s capital, Juneau sits at the epicenter of Alaska’s governmental and economic affairs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field. A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible administrative experience is required.

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience. Salary commensurate with experience.
