As our Student Engagement & Leadership Manager, you will provide leadership oversight to our students and connect with community members to create an environment of growth and exciting event planning opportunities. You will be serving as an advisor for the Student Activities Board and providing support to the UAS-Juneau Student Government and Whalesong student media organization. Everyday you will manage and execute event planning, administrative responsibilities, attend meetings and develop leadership opportunities. This includes development, implementation, and evaluation duties over the Student Activities Board, Clubs, and service-learning events throughout the academic year.
To thrive in this role you must work well with a lot of interruptions and have experience managing large events, employees, and demonstrate strong leadership skills. You must be able to provide a friendly, informative, and helpful attitude in interacting positively to faculty, staff, students and the general public and work as a team with the Campus Life department. You need to be detail-oriented and self-motivated, someone who picks up ideas and skill sets quickly, enjoys being part of a team, is excited to grow and evolve your skills, and has an appreciation for student retention and satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education and/or coordinating large scale events. Masters degree in Higher Education Student Affairs or related field is preferred.
Must have a valid Alaska Drivers License or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
Position Details:
This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau. This is a full-time, 11-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
