Position Summary:

UAA Anchorage Campus Facilities Maintenance and Operations Department is seeking a Journeyman Electrician. Our mission is to provide safe, comfortable, attractive, and sustainable environments for our campus users. The Facilities Department is entrusted with caring for and safeguarding the physical assets of the campus. We are a small, but reliable team that has a wide range of knowledge, are willing to learn and willing to teach, and are looking for our next teammate. We are actively recruiting for Electrician positions in either CT2, or CT3.

In this role, you will perform a variety of maintenance and repair work such as changing lights and conducting electrical maintenance on the 50+ buildings on campus. We’ll rely on you to conduct job assessments, create quotes and estimates, and research part replacements.

Minimum Qualifications:

CT2 - Journeyman Electrician. Ten years of experience with industrial tools and/or hand tools related to the trades. Must have commercial or industrial experience. Must possess and submit a valid State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness Journeyman Electrician License or be able to attain within 60 days of hire. 


CT3 - Master Journeyman Electrician. Must meet CT2 requirements and have mastery level experience in commercial facilities. Must have a State of Alaska Journeyman's Electrician License. Preference for NICET fire systems certificate. Equivalent education and training in electronics or industrial electricity may be considered. Acquisition of other specialized licenses and training is highly preferred.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. This position is represented by the Alaska Higher Education Crafts & Trades Employees (L6070).

New hires will be placed on the UA CBA L6070 Salary Table, L6070 CT2 or CT3, based on education and experience. CT2 / $27.40/hr -$35.97/hr. - CT3/ $30.87/hr-$40.47/hr (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Grade Schedule).
