Position Summary:
This position works for the Alaska Satellite Facility in the Geophysical Institute at UAF. The position is responsible for fiscal, travel, and administrative duties as outlined in the duties section of the advertisement. The Alaska Satellite Facility downlinks, processes, archives, and distributes remote-sensing data to scientific users around the world. ASF’s mission is to make remote-sensing data accessible. We are seeking an individual who enjoys working with a diverse group of people, able to prioritize duties, stay on task with minimum supervision, and constant interruptions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: |
- Intermediate fiscal skills that include knowledge of accounting system procedures, electronic spreadsheets, and experience with grants and contracts, specifically University Fund 3.
- Ability to interpret and apply the University’s purchasing and travel regulations with experience using Banner and Concur or similar programs.
- Ability to maintain files, both paper and electronically, while maintaining confidentiality and using information management regulations
- Intermediate knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Suites and the ability to utilize specialized software and databases to query and maintain data.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team, multitask, and prioritize work with intermittent supervision.
- Detailed-oriented and excellent organizational skills with grammar, spelling, and punctuation knowledge to transcribe material accurately, as well as basic phone skills and etiquette.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies as well as certification, monitoring, and reconciling skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact, diplomacy, and international cultural sensitivity using strong oral and written language skills.
- Experience in making complex travel arrangements for individuals and visiting groups using a travel system, travel agents, or directly with travel vendors.
Physical Demands: Crouching/stooping, Pulling/pushing, Repetitive movements, Reaching, Squatting, Lift up to 50lbs, Bending, Ability to use ladders and steps.

Preferred Experience & Education: |
One year of experience in making complex travel arrangements.

Required Experience & Education: |
College coursework in Accounting or related field and one year entry-level accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Salary Information: |
This position is full-time, Grade 77, term-funded, non-exempt, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, based on education and experience.

Special Instructions to Applicants: |
This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment.
