Position Summary:

UAA School of Education is accepting applications for adjunct instructors for the 23-24 academic year.

Duties:

100The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more courses in a manner consistent with the course content guide. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught. This is a pooled position and applicants will be reviewed on an as needed basis. Acceptance into the pool does not constitute an offer of employment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester. Hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis according to the needs of that semester's schedule. To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized for unrestricted employment in the United States. No work visas will be sponsored for this position.Essential

Position Summary:

This is an adjunct labor pool for temporary, part-time, non-benefited positions to teach credit courses. Adjunct positions are on a semester appointment basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment nor does having worked one semester guarantee an offer of employment in the following semester. Applicants are hired based on the departments' needs for that semester. Salary is based on the number of previous semesters teaching experience within the University of Alaska.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Applicants will be evaluated on the suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students in a manner consistent with the specific course content guides in the following departments:


Early Childhood Education
Educational Leadership
Language Education
Special Education
Teaching and Learning

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have expertise and experience relevant to teaching the specific course content. Experience teaching college-level courses in Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, Language Education, Special Education, or Teaching and Learning is preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

The successful candidate will have at least a Masters degree in Education or closely related field. Successful applicants must provide official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment.

2) Cover letter that notes the department you are applying for (Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, Language Education, Special Education, or Teaching and Learning), the relevance of your education and experience to this adjunct position, and the course or areas of expertise you feel you are qualified to teach.
