Position Summary:

The Office of Student Engagement & Leadership is recruiting student leaders for the Student Activities Board! SAB works collaboratively with campus partners to plan, develop, coordinate, and promote more than 40 events throughout the year. From building relationships with campus partners, facilitating student engagement opportunities, to bringing local and national talent to campus, SAB is committed to creating a memorable campus experience. This is a great opportunity to gain professional work experience with flexible hours, while attending classes.

Duties:

100Serve as a chair on one SAB committee (selected after hire) Maintain a set schedule of five office hours each week within the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership in addition to the SAB meeting Support / Attend / Assist with SAB events as designated Participation at SAB training sessions & retreats Work with the SAB Chair and Student Engagement Manager within the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership in developing committee programming and marketing goals, initiatives, and strategies for the Student Activities Board Coordinate programs and events tailored to specific chair position Recruit, train and oversee volunteers to assist in overall planning, implementation and evaluation of events and activities Maintain committee files from year to year Attend a bi-weekly 1:1 with SAB chair and weekly meetings with SAB Must be able to consistently abide by deadlines for proposing, planning, marketing, and evaluating events/activitiesEssential
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to develop and/or have:

  • Skills in planning, promotion, facilitation, evaluation, and reporting of campus wide events;
  • Strong attention to detail and written/verbal professional communication skills;
  • Initiative to work with minimal supervision; The drive to complete tasks thoroughly and responsibly;
  • Commitment to work with a team to co-plan events and work toward group consensus;
  • Dedication to interact positively with students, university personnel, and performers/speakers;
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and conflict resolution skills;
  • To successfully time manage and juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities with your academic and personal life.

Required Experience & Education:

Must be a UAS student enrolled in a maximum of six credit hours throughout the employment period. Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA throughout the employment period.

Salary Information:

This is a part-time, student employment up to 20 hours a week, depending on student's schedule and availability. Student employees are not required to work during holidays, campus closures, or finals week. Schedule will be determined with supervisor and is flexible with student's academic needs.
