Position Summary:

The School of Education at the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is seeking qualified applicants for either 2 part-time term faculty positions OR 1 full time term faculty position in Educational Leadership. The qualified candidate(s) will be expected to teach educational leadership in graduate programs as needed; take a leadership role in relationships with public schools and state agencies; participate in research, as needed; and perform college, university and community service. This is a permanent, non-tenure-track position with salary and rank based on experience. Desired start date is July 1, 2023. The position is located in Juneau, Alaska; however, the successful candidate can live elsewhere in Alaska but must relocate to Juneau for the summer in-person sessions, as needed, which are held in June and July annually. The School of Education values collaborative scholarship, and the person in this position will be expected to work with colleagues to teach graduate courses for school level leadership, work with students in diverse communities, engage in clinical supervision across the state, establish effective working relationships with colleagues in and across the School of Education and the University of Alaska system, establish strong relationships with administrators in local school districts, and participate in Educational Leadership Department, School of Education, and professional service activities. The candidate(s) will also be expected to work with colleagues to help ensure continuing accreditation.

Duties:

100Support University of Alaska bipartite mission of performing teaching and public service. Teach courses in educational leadership. Supervise interns. Hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught. Be proactive in developing and modifying curriculum for delivery and other teaching modalities. Provide University and Community service. Collaborate with colleagues in the UAS School of Education and within the Alaska College of Education Consortium. Reside in Alaska and be willing and able to teach in Juneau in June and July.Essential

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Experience facilitating adult learning opportunities.
Experience working with indigenous people and diverse learners.
Experience providing high-quality instruction delivered through distance learning technologies.
Experience providing high-quality instruction delivered in person.
Experience building collaborative learning environments.
Ability to travel to rural and urban sites in Alaska for candidate supervision.
Effective written communication skills.
Experience working with private and public external constituencies.
Experience includes academic program design.
Experience with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) standards.
Familiarity with National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) standards and with Educational Leadership course content.
Typical Experience:
Previous experience serving as a building-level principal in a public school setting.
Previous experience serving as a district-level leader in a public school setting.
Previous experience providing professional learning experiences for adult learners within an educational setting.
Demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Required Education or Training:

Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or a closely related field is preferred; however, applicants who hold a master’s in an area that is relevant for the position will be considered.
At least three (3) years of experience as a school-based educational leader.
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in a certified position within public education systems.

Salary Information:

This is a part-time or full-time term faculty position with salary and rank based on experience. Desired start day is 07/01/2023. This position is covered by the UNAC collective bargaining agreement.
