Position Summary:

Come join the UAS team! We need an experienced Student Systems Support Technician to join the Registrar team!

Duties:

25Collaborate with functional unit leaders (Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Bursar’s Office, Admissions, etc.) to identify, prioritize, and pursue opportunities for improvement. Onboard and utilize Banner Workflow as part of these improvements where necessary. Support campus staff with related data to better understand ways in which SIS can be maximized for efficiency and ease of both students and staff. Troubleshoot all technical issues.Essential
25Identify Banner module components and functionality not yet deployed. Work with functional units to prioritize and test the components. Create training materials for units to utilize during implementation Update staff on enhancements, changes, and modifications to the system.Essential
25Provide development and testing support for improvements as part of the SIS (Student Information System) Modernization project. Assist in the support of SIS programs and processes, including training of staff to ensure effective and efficient use of the software/system. Test and implement system modifications to ensure expected results and prevent negative impacts on existing functions and processes. Assist in performing business requirement analysis and system design analysis on specific initiatives, factoring in issues, dependencies, constraints, and impacts to the enterprise-wide use of SIS. Serve as a leader regarding functional aspects of the Banner SIS with a direct and compelling impact on daily operations from students and staff.Essential
25Work with the data teams (institutional effectiveness, enrollment management, etc.,) to build queries. Build reports that functional units can pull to review data quickly and easily. Other duties as assigned in support of the overall goal of the SIS modernization project.Essential

The position will report to the UAS Registrar and work directly with enrollment services and financial teams across UAS as part of a major technology project to upgrade student information systems. This position will be part of a team responsible for building and testing technology integrations, evaluating processes, and programming improvements as part of a transition from the current Banner infrastructure to a more modern student technology environment. Positions will be term funded (three years) as part of a major technology project funded via the State of Alaska, with the potential for options to renew the term based on project or technology testing needs. Flexible work arrangements are an option with coordination with the supervisor. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Extensive knowledge of Banner; general knowledge of computer hardware; strong knowledge of software, strong knowledge of common desktop software, and the ability to learn new systems quickly; organizational skills; analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with university student information systems or processes is preferred. Written and oral communication, customer service. Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions. Ability to organize and prioritize your own work schedule on a short-term basis.
Typical Experience:
Two years of experience – general Banner; advanced computer operations, theory, methods, practices, and procedures; demonstrated experience working with enterprise systems and relational databases; technical writing. Previous experience working both independently and in a team environment.
Required Education or Training:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Management Information Systems or a related/equivalent field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
