Position Summary:

The School of Education at the University of Alaska Anchorage invites applications for the position of Student Placement Outreach Specialist. This position will provide administrative support to the students enrolled in the School of Education licensure programs as well as communicating with the Alaska school district partners that schedule and host dual enrollment courses, along with interpreting policies, procedures, rules and regulations with accurately communicating and applying them. This position is located in Anchorage, Alaska.

Duties:

25Dual Enrollment Student Support Provides timely support and responsive service and communications with Alaska school district partners scheduling and hosting dual enrollment courses. Responsibilities include responding to questions/inquiries, distributing informational packets; communicating program quality expectations, and facilitating access to dual enrollment student services. The incumbent will act as the initial point of contact for interested districts, teachers, parents, and students; maintain the Distance Learning Classrooms in a Box library that connects dual enrollment classrooms across the state; and assist the SOE/school districts with projecting dual enrollment course needs. Support nurtures positive relationships with school districts as critical community partners.Essential
30Compliance Maintenance Provide comprehensive administrative support to students enrolled in School of Education (SOE) licensure programs that require background checks. The SOE requires compliance with background clearance policies and procedures for students participating in university-sponsored clinical fieldwork. The incumbent serves as initial and continuing point of contact for students completing initial background check clearance or the student teaching internship packet processes; including adjusting processes for compliance changes, updating the website with relevant instructions, maintaining communication with students during their process, and alerting SOE faculty and administration to potential process or compliance issues.Essential
40Placement Coordination and Facilitation Serves as a primary point of contact for all clinical placement arrangements between the School of Education and clinical partners, including Alaska and out-of-state school districts, community agencies, hospitals, and other education service providers. Provides logistical and communications support for maintaining clinical partnership agreements, partnership placement needs, and clinical placement survey distribution/reporting. The incumbent tracks agreements and placements in progress and notifies students and appropriate faculty of pending actions to ensure timelines are met; assists in maintaining up-to-date student and clinical partner data in the SOE Quality Assurance System (QAS); and facilitates Keep In Touch (KIT) survey distribution and reporting, which includes recruiting clinical placement host teachers, evaluating student performance in clinical experiences, measuring clinical partner satisfaction, measuring graduate satisfaction, and collecting alumni celebrations. Position requires interpreting policies, procedures, rules and regulations promulgated outside of the School of Education and is charged with accurately communicating and applying them. Examples include, but are not limited to, FERPA, UAA enrollment and curriculum policies and procedures, and State of Alaska certificate and licensing application rules and procedures. 5Administrative Support Cross-trains with and serves as the back-up for other SOE Student Support & Success Office team members as needed. Performs other duties as needed and assigned.Essential
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, positive attitude, flexibility and adaptability, and strong service commitment are essential
• Proficiency in common software computer applications
• Excellent editing and proofreading skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to prioritize workload and follow through to meet competing deadlines, goals and objectives
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as an integral part of a collaborative team
• Non-profit service work experience preferred
• Background in or familiarity with curriculum development preferred
• Familiarity and experience with BANNER preferred

Typical Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in a professional environment
Required Education or Training:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training and experience

Salary Information:

This is a full-time, term-funded, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
