Position Summary:

Do you enjoy creative work? Are you good at creating powerpoint presentations? Do you like graphic design? UAF Career Services is looking to hire a Student Content Creator & Marketing Assistant to help design and produce marketing materials, maintain social media presence, and support communication initiatives for career development programs and resources. This position will also help design career education materials, slide decks, web content, and video presentations. Students must be eligible for Federal Work-Study (apply via the FAFSA). Open until filled with the first review date of February 10th.

Duties:

100● Create marketing materials including flyers, digital ads, email campaigns, social media assets, etc. in a fast-paced setting. ● Manage department’s social media presence (e.g. Facebook, Instagram), including sourcing content, scheduling posts, and developing ideas for increasing outreach. ● Participate in creative discussions about new campaigns and promotions for Career Services programs and be open to critique and evolution of creative work. ● Use critical thinking and design skills to assist in the creation of print and digital pieces, while adhering to UAF’s brand standards. ● Gather and analyze research including categories of competitive, market, traffic and web usage data. Evaluate student feedback and industry trends to inform communication planning processes. ● Support office management and maintenance of the department’s email account and phone line. ● Support department outreach activities, such as hosting info tables and presentations. ● Provide logistical support for event management, including career fairs and networking events. ● Provide feedback on current presentations, handouts, and Career Services webpages ● Create google slide presentations for various career topics such as “how to create a resume” ● Create printable and digital handouts for various career services topics ● Create career education Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts ● Work alongside the Career Services team to develop digital presentations on various career topics ● Edit current career services handouts and presentationsEssential

Career Services is seeking an organized and driven student leader to help advance departmental marketing efforts through project organization, digital marketing, and written and oral communication. These materials reach a variety of audiences including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: The successful candidate will be tech-savvy, highly organized, friendly, and independent with strong attention to detail and a collaborative spirit. Effective organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet goals in a dynamic environment.

● Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in an ethical manner.

● Familiarity with Google apps (UAF Gmail, Google Drive, Google Slides and Google Docs)

● Familiar with Canva or other graphic design software

Typical Experience:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits during the fall/spring semester
● Hold at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
● Students must be eligible for Federal Work-Study (apply via the FAFSA).
PREFERRED:
● Interest or background in Marketing or Public Communications field
● Digital marketing or design experience
Required Education or Training:

● Positive attitude, openness, willingness to learn and work collaboratively
● Basic understanding of introductory marketing and communications principles
● Ability to pay attention to detail and interest in detail-oriented work
● Must demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills
● Customer service experience- Passionate about helping UAF students and alumni succeed
● Intermediate experience navigating Instagram and Facebook
● Intermediate experience with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Word

Salary Information: 

 This position is for up to 20 hours per week at $17.00 per hour
