Position Summary:

UAF Advancement is looking for a storyteller to join our team. If you like talking to people, connecting them with their interests and promoting students, programs and stories at UAF, please apply!

Duties:

1-30Storytelling: Create feature stories and written materials that celebrate alumni and UAF students, faculty, staff and programs. Create materials for annual giving and broad-based fundraising appeals. Manage promotional campaigns for alumni giving and other philanthropic endeavors. Manage special fundraising communication and outreach opportunities, such as Giving Day and crowdfunding campaigns. Advise UAF college, school, department and campus participation in a variety of targeted annual giving and engagement campaigns.Essential
2-30Content Creation: In partnership with University Relations, develop and maintain communication and marketing materials to support alumni engagement, fundraising and other Advancement projects and events. Materials may include: alumni publications, feature stories, flyers, event programs, ads, newsletters, blogs, and other public relations and outreach materials. Ensure publications reflect UAF brand identity, editorial, and marketing standards. Write, edit, and evaluate communication and marketing content for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.Essential
3-25Alumni Engagement: Help alumni connect with the UAF community. Develop strong relationships across campus with the goal of building a culture of alumni engagement. Participate in committees representing the goals and interests of alumni. Connect alumni with active UAF communities, including the alumni association board and committees, alumni networks, university groups and other opportunities. Support alumni in efforts to connect and engage other alumni and provide on-going quality programs and events. Coordinate requests for alumni data from the UA Foundation and the use of that data—ensuring appropriate confidentiality agreements, use and maintenance of data. Plan and prepare communications to alumni groups and segmented audiences based on affinity.Essential
4-15Project Management: Serve as point of contact for alumni events and projects, and communicate with vendors about catering, space reservations, facilities and equipment set up and other items that need coordination. Coordinate with Advancement Project Manager to track deadlines, timelines, and project deliverables. Coordinate with UAF Development Office to schedule fundraising, event planning and other internal committee meetings. Coordinate with the UAF Development Office and UA Foundation on strategies to retain, solicit and advance individual donors. Coordinate constituency-based solicitation programs for alumni cohorts, university programs and employees.Essential

  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation rules and ability to use AP and other style guides for composition and editing
  • Ability to create and maintain websites using content management systems such as WordPress and Modern Campus
  • Capacity in photo editing, graphic design, and video editing
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Preferred KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Preference given to those having experience with Raiser's Edge or similar relational database.
  • Prefer experience with maintaining websites.
Typical Experience:
3-4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Education or Training:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
