UAA's Aviation Technology Division (ATD) is searching for a qualified individual for our tenure-track Assistant Professor of Aviation Technology position. The ATD trains the next generation of aviation professionals in piloting, maintenance, air traffic control and aviation management. We are looking for a motivated individual with broad aviation teaching experience.
The position is required to provide service to the Department, the College, the University and/or the Profession. This service may include curriculum development, service on committees, or other service as approved by the Division director.Essential
This position carries a full-time instructional workload during the academic year. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching a full course load (typically 24 to 27 credits) of undergraduate courses in a manner consistent with the specific course content guides. Faculty are also expected to provide academic counseling to students, hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught, and be proactive in developing and modifying curriculum for delivery in assigned teaching modalities.Essential
UAA's Aviation Technology Division (ATD), within the CTC, represents the latest in aviation education technologies in a large facility with state-of-the-art classrooms and labs. The mission of the ATD is to enhance, promote, and provide quality aviation education, research and service worldwide. The ATD offers a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Aviation Administration, Professional Piloting, or Aeronautical Studies as well as Associate degrees in Aviation Maintenance, Air Traffic Control, and Professional Piloting. Additionally, the ATD offers two Undergraduate Certificates in the Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program, an Aircraft Dispatcher curriculum, and a Minor in Aviation Technology.
|Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
||Documented successful post-secondary teaching experience is required.
Minimum three (3) years aviation experience in airline, corporate, government, or general aviation OR minimum two (2) years aviation experience with an education/training component and two (2) or more years of experience as an aviation faculty member or instructional staff with an accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience/education indicating and/or demonstrated ability to develop and deliver a broad array of aviation courses is preferred.
Experience and proficiency using computers, online course management systems, and other instructional technologies is preferred.
Applicable experience in management, leadership, or training is preferred.
|Required Education or Training:
Earned Master's degree from an accredited university OR Bachelor’s degree plus a combination of industry experience and/or 16 credits post-Bachelor’s study toward an earned Master’s degree is required.
Candidates without a Master’s degree will have two (2) years from the date of initial appointment to obtain the degree for continued appointment.
This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
