Position Summary:

Join the award-winning Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) in Anchorage, Alaska! The University of Alaska Anchorage/Alaska Pacific University Consortium Library is seeking a full-time ARLIS Electronic Resources & Repository Librarian who will oversee electronic resources, online services, and repository systems. This position will also manage technical projects and join the ARLIS Management Team. This term faculty position offers opportunities for collaboration within the university and with libraries across the state in serving the research staff of multiple state and federal natural resource agencies, the university, the private sector, and the public. Duties:

10Library Catalog: Serve as the ARLIS administrator for Alaska Library Catalog (ALC), a statewide consortium that provides a shared integrated library system (ILS) throughout the state. Run ILS reports and compile statistics. Participate in the ALC's Administrator Workgroup and Privacy & Security Workgroup.Essential
10Technical Project Management: Coordinate and oversee technical projects. Optimize the efficiency and quality of project output. Monitor short-term and long-term progress of projects, adhering to project requirements and timelines. Oversee project staff as needed. Identify and report quality control issues. Regularly communicate project progress.Essential
30Repositories: Acquire knowledge and understanding of repository systems for digital content and data sets. Recommend, plan, and implement appropriate repository systems for ARLIS. Develop and maintain procedures for organizing and preserving repository content and data that adhere to current best practices. Work with staff, vendors, and partners to resolve issues and ensure access to repository systems. Plan and implement continual improvements to repository systems.Essential
40Electronic Resources: Manage ARLIS electronic resources and online services including access to databases subscriptions, EBSCO Publication Finder, EZproxy authentication server, ILLIAD document delivery, and VuFind library search engine. Develop and maintain the ARLIS website including domain registration, system administration, content curation, and usage analytics. Work with staff, vendors, and partners to resolve issues and ensure access to electronic resources, online services, and the website. Plan and implement continual improvements to online services and the website.Essential
5Administration: Serve on the ARLIS Management Team.Essential
5Reference: Assist with reference requests by e-mail, phone, and in person.Essential
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficiency in using technology to improve library services and user access to information. Knowledge of long-term preservation practices for digital and data assets, large scale file and data set management, and quality control. Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assigned tasks. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of natural sciences.
Typical Experience:
Experience with electronic resources management, website administration, digital/data repositories, document delivery, or integrated library systems. Experience with project management including supervising project staff preferred. Reference experience preferred. Experience working in specialized research libraries preferred. Experience with Linux server administration preferred.
Required Education or Training:

Master's degree from an ALA-accredited institution. A minimum of two years of progressive experience in electronic resources, website development, repository systems, or technical project management.

Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 9-month base contract with a 3-month contract extension, term-funded faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
