Position Summary:

Support the work of the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as student government’s next clerk and office assistant! This is a flexible position that will give you an inside look at the university while helping you develop professional skills.

Duties:

100%The ASUAF Senate Clerk and Office Assistant is an integral member of the ASUAF team. By supporting UAF’s student government, the Senate Clerk and Office Assistant plays a part in improving the overall student experience while gaining important skills in communication, office administration, time management and organization. Duties include: - Office Administration: Assist the ASUAF advisor in the overall operations of the ASUAF office, including assisting students with ASUAF-provided services, ordering office supplies, maintaining the supply closet, opening and/or closing the office and performing other duties as assigned. - Meeting Management and Scheduling: Work closely with the ASUAF Senate Chair and ASUAF President and Vice President to schedule and manage meetings, including taking official minutes. - Recordkeeping: Collaborate with the ASUAF Public Relations Director to post meeting agendas, minutes and recordings; work with the Senate Chair to track ASUAF actions and expenditures; maintain organization of the ASUAF shared drive. This position is required to attend ASUAF Senate meetings, currently scheduled from 3:30-5 p.m. on Wednesdays.Essential

Required Education or Training:

Training will be provided.

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:

A) Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; OR

B) Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

C) Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or is a newly enrolled student.

Salary Information:

This is a Student Assistant 2 position; the position will pay $11.34 per hour, DOE.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year and students may apply for the position all year. When departments need to fill a position, they review the current “pool” and call students for interviews. Students who were not hired for one position still remain in the pool for other positions.
