UAS Student Housing is hiring Resident Advisors for the Fall 2022 - Spring 2023 academic year. A Resident Advisor (RA) is a live-in paraprofessional staff member that serves as a positive leader and peer role model within the Housing and greater campus community. This position is expected to be placed within the main housing complex. Being an RA is a great way to improve your marketable skills for future employment, such as those pertaining to public speaking, customer service, conflict mediation, critical thinking and problem-solving, time management, and administrative ability. This position’s benefits include provided housing at no cost, hourly wages available for administrative tasks, and a $750 meal plan per semester of employment. 100%Housing Desk tasks: Customer Service during desk shifts at a Housing Desk location, including resident mail sorting and package pickup, resource referrals, and administrative tasks; Cleaning and maintaining Housing Lodge and John Pugh Hall desk locations; Maintain resident files and paperwork; Promote UAS events, programs, and services; Schedule resident meetings with professional staff; Prep event materials and/or advertising; Create and distribute postings or flyers.Essential
2On-Call Hours - weekdays and weekends
Resident Advisors are required to be "On-Call" once a week, to be scheduled in conjunction with one's supervisor,
between Sunday-Thursday. Friday's, Saturdays, and Sundays (Sundays only in John Pugh Hall) are considered weekends, and will be shared equally among Resident Advisors in that area. Resident Advisors work approximately 28 nights on call per semester, regardless of placement.
Resident Advisors are required to bring a minimum of 5 residets to three camopus or community events each semester.
Resident Advisors are expected to maintain regular interactions with residents living at UAS Housing, with special attention paid to residents living within the area they reside (Banfield Hall, John Pugh Hall, Apartment Complex). During meetings with their supervisors, Resident Advisors will be expected to update their supervisors on the well-being of residents living on-campus. This will include roommate interactions, wellness concerns, and more.
Attend staff meetings and one-on-one meetings; Resident Advisors are expected to attend regular Staff Meetings and One-on-Ones with their supervisors. Each meeting will run approximately one hour in length.
Campus Life Division Programming and Departmental Programming Support:
Resident Advisors are expected to work one "Campus Life" program per semester. Campus Life programs include Campus Kickoff (Fall), Community Thanksgiving (Fall), Winterfest (Spring), and Spring Carnival (Spring). Additionally, Resident Advisors are also expected to work Residence Life departmental events, which may include housing socials, resident appreciation parties, etc.

Student Employment Requirements:
- Must be a UA student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours throughout employment duration.
- Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA throughout employment period.
- Must be in good conduct standing with UAS Student Housing.
- UA student enrolled full-time, 12 credit hours throughout employment duration.
- Maintains a 2.5 cumulative GPA throughout employment period.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Experience in customer service-oriented positions or helping roles.
- Ability to work as a member of a staff team.
- Demonstrated leadership and/or peer assistance skills.
- Demonstrated dependability and problem-solving skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience living in communal environments and/or university leadership involvement.
Training is provided to all student staff of Student Housing. This training includes; participation in new student employee orientation facilitated by campus partners in Career Service and Human Resources, paid training periods prior to the beginning of each academic semester, continued training through weekly one-on-one meetings with direct supervisors, weekly staff meetings which may include in-service training.
Specific training and certifications include but are not limited to diversity awareness, housing policies and procedures, student development theory, suicide prevention training, sexual assault prevention training, and conflict mediation.
This position’s benefits include provided housing at no cost, $11.34 hourly wages available for administrative tasks, and a $750 meal plan per semester of employment.
