Position Summary:

KUAC TV/FM Recruiting for a Marketing & Communications Manager KUAC is the public broadcasting system for the Fairbanks area and associated translator stations in the interior/western part of the State of Alaska. This position focuses upon effective communication and promotion which is essential to build positive relationships with the community to build goodwill and station revenue.

Duties:

1-40Oversees KUAC involvement in local events and other activities that align with the overall marketing strategy the KUAC development plan and strategic plan which includes KUAC's On-Air Fundraiser, KUAC's annual poster signing event, KUAC's annual volunteer appreciation event, and additional recognition and informational events as they are deemed appropriate. Activities include planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all public events both promotional and fundraising. Planning to include all details; coordination to include all scheduling of guests and volunteers; working with University resources, and evaluation to include the overall success of the events as they relate to the strategic plan and development plan of KUAC. Coordinates community tours and public presentations.Essential
2-35Oversees and maintains robust communication strategies including website, web presence, and social media content in a manner consistent with the look and image of KUAC''s radio and television broadcast components, and incorporating new applications for user-friendly, mobile-friendly interface; incorporating PBS and NPR tools to create user-friendly content distribution in electronic formats; writing and coordinating eNews; creating and obtaining content and integrating new applications as they become available; writing Press Releases; public correspondence and answering viewer/listener inquiries or directing them to the appropriate party.Essential

KUAC TV/FM is Recruiting a Part-Time Marketing & Communications Manager
KUAC serves as the public broadcasting system for the Fairbanks area and several rural communities in the Interior.  This position serves as the first point of public contact/communications with the KUAC FM listening and TV viewing audience.  It is a year-round, half-time/benefited, exempt position.

Major Job Duties include:

Assist with other Station activities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Highly effective and clearly demonstrated communications skills in all environments and platforms including written, oral, and public presentation. Demonstrated successful experience in promotions and marketing. Current knowledge of effective promotion techniques and principles including digital media, publishing and layout skills. Ability to translate mission, vision and values of KUAC into all created communications. Familiarity with demographics and how to use them effectively in communications and promotions. Highly effective time management and personal organization skills.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with volunteers, volunteer management and coordination.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Experience in digital media/social media promotions and planning. Experience working with non-profit organizations. Knowledge and familiarity of market research concepts, techniques and analysis. Four (4) years work-related experience in promotions, public relations, marketing or corporate communications.
Typical Experience:
Three (3) years work related experience in promotions, public relations, marketing or corporate communications or related.
Required Education or Training:

This position requires knowledge of marketing strategies, business practices, and public relations. A bachelors degree or equivalent experience is required.

Salary Information:

This is a part-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
