Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge of the university with prospective and incoming students? Come work with a fun group of recruitment staff and students and share your enthusiasm for UAA while giving tours of the campus, helping plan events, and assisting students through the admissions process. You’ll be the student face of the university all while making a difference on campus and gaining valuable office experience you can use after you graduate. This position can be conducted virtually as the university responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a pooled position; applicants will be contacted on an as-needed basis.
15 Participate in Office of Admissions recruitment and training events
Assemble mailings, admissions packets, event folders, and other recruitment materials
Assist with other projects as needed Essential
40 Give presentations in one-on-one and group settings that highlight similar information as given during a campus tour
Serve as front line staff in the Office of Admissions by greeting guests, answering phone calls, and corresponding over email
Assist in preparing for daily visitors by preparing materials and check in sheets
Perform data entry, general office support, and update information into the customer relations management system (CRM)
Keep front desk area clean and organized
Assist with the inventory and distribution of recruitment materials Essential
45 UAA Office of Admissions Recruitment Office Assistants represent UAA to prospective students, their families, and the general public. Office Assistants are expected to:
Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude
Give enthusiastic and in depth campus tours, highlighting UAA resources and strengths to daily visitors, group visits, and during recruitment events in person and virtually
Provide outreach to prospective students by conducting outgoing call campaigns and following up with students after events. This will be a primary focus for this position. Essential
Primary Goals - To encourage prospective students to choose the University of Alaska Anchorage as their college choice. To represent UAA and be the face of the university to incoming students and their parents at campus events, tours, and on the phone.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Initiative, enthusiasm, energy, knowledge of the UAA campus, organizational skills, ability to work with a diverse student population, comfortable with public speaking. Recruitment Office Assistants must be dependable, outgoing, and possess the ability to listen, problem solve, and react quickly. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
Familiarity and ability to conduct research via the Internet and other resources.
*Prefer students who have a valid driver's license and an in depth knowledge of student life and opportunities around campus
Eligibility - To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must have earned and continue to maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. Students must work at least 10 hours a week Monday-Friday, and be a currently enrolled student taking 6 credits or more. Students must also pass a background check.
