5Children/Families: Recognize and support the diverse needs of student, staff and faculty families using the UAF CTC Early Childhood lab services. 90Early Childhood Assistant Program Teacher: Position works in conjunction with the master teacher planning and implementing model developmental programs. Position assists in the implementation of the program plan and provides the daily care, education and supervision of children in an assigned area. The UAF CTC Bunnell House Early Lab School is licensed by the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services to serve 30 children, ages 36 months through six years. The lab school's child-centered environment is rich in learning opportunities. Developmentally appropriate equipment and practices permit children to make choices within a supportive and encouraging structure. Self-selection of activities and materials allows children to learn independently at their own unique pace. Active exploration and cooperative learning foster problem-solving and critical thinking skills, communication and language skills, creativity, competence, healthy attitudes, and positive self-worth.
UAF Community and Technical College is responsive to local and regional vocational and technical training needs, and focuses on workplace development to meet the needs of the region and the state. UAF CTC's programs also provide students with the academic framework to help them achieve their higher education goals, whether it is to complete an associate of arts degree or transfer to a baccalaureate program. At minimum, three months experience working with age-appropriate pre-school children.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
At minimum, high school graduation plus some vocational technical course work in early childhood education or a related field and/or minimum three months of formal experience working with age-appropriate preschool children.
Successful candidate should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, have good vision and hearing as mandated to meet all childcare regulatory and licensing requirements.
Infant-child-adult first aid and CPR certification is required for this position.
This is a full-time, Grade 75, ($17.16/hr) DOE, 10-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. This is an open until filled recruitment with the initial application review taking place on January 19, 2022.
