Position Summary:

Campus Recreation is looking for self-motivated team players that enjoy spending time at the REC and could envision themselves working to make improvements in the services that campus recreation provides. Looking for Spring and Fall (2022) staff, apply now!

Duties:

10Assist with academic class and activity set-up when needed. Assist with event set-up, ticket sales and event take down when needed. Attend appropriate staff workshops and meetings. Assist with Campus Life events (approx. four during academic year). Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.Essential
20Use the cash register when selling concessions, memberships and other equipment. Assist with reconciliation and create deposit report.Essential
30Roam facility areas for safe use of equipment and safety of participants. Maintain and inventory equipment on a scheduled basis. Perform regular inspection and light cleaning of REC Center exercise equipment.Essential
40Oversee the safe usage of the Recreation & Student Activities Center. Monitor entry and exit of users of the Recreation Center Facility. Under COVID operations increased cleaning and disinfecting on touch points is the responsibility of this position as well as monitoring mask use and space capacity limits. Rent equipment from the Outdoor Recreation Center and assist with repairs when requested.Essential

Campus Recreation Assistant is responsible for monitoring facility access and ensuring the safe usage of the REC Center. This is a mid-level entry position that includes cash handling. Knowledge of customer service, recreation, and wellness. Responsible for renting REC Center outdoor equipment, monitoring the entrance and exit, checking in guests and members, and maintaining a clean, friendly environment. Other responsibilities may include cardio/weight room inspection and cleaning, event set-up, and display creation. We are looking for self-motivated team players that enjoy spending time at the REC Center and taking advantage of its diverse offerings.

Applicants should be familiar with the services campus recreation provides. Staff will assist with the opening and closing of the REC Center, with shift hours that can vary from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have excellent customer service skills and the desire to work with a diverse public.
  • Must have good attention to detail and over counter sales experience.
  • Experience with fitness and wellness preferred.

Typical Experience: 

  • 1-3 years of customer service and/or recreation experience preferred. Over counter sales experience desired.

Required Education or Training:

  • Must be enrolled as a UAS student in 6 or more credits. 

  • Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

  • Experience in customer service.
  • Requires current certification or willingness to obtain certification in Basic First Aid and Adult CPR (preferred).
