Position Summary:

100Responsible for enforcing the regulations pertaining to the safety of University of Alaska and University of Alaska Anchorage facilities and property, to include patrolling University controlled property for the purpose of safeguarding buildings and property under the control and jurisdiction of the University of Alaska Statewide or University of Alaska Anchorage. The Team Lead will be the lead safety officer of the program responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and other similar activities. Provide leadership and supervision to the Public Safety Officer Program. Assist with policy and training development. Provides service to students, employees, and visitors; writes reports; checks permits on vehicles entering and parked on campus or at Statewide buildings; directs flow of traffic and parking of cars when needed; and issues University parking violation citations as appropriate. Patrols buildings and grounds to check for fires, water leaks, potential security and safety hazards and general building security, reporting all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity. Provides directions to locate buildings and offices and other general information to visitors. Patrols buildings and grounds on foot or in vehicle to provide security and prevent crime. Event Security as required or needed. Writes reports on incidents occurring on a campus or the Statewide buildings. Performs other related duties as required.Essential


Should have the physical and mental capabilities to properly carry out responsibilities and duties as a Public Safety Officer of The University of Alaska Anchorage Police Department. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a University owned and/or leased motor vehicle. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, as directed by University of Alaska Board of Regents Policy, Alaska Police Standards Council, and FBI – Criminal Justice Information Systems requirements. Must be able to provide creditable testimony in a court of law.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive.


Preferred 3-5 years experience in the security field, event staffing, or public safety. Preferred experience with supervision of a security team / organization.


Graduation from high school, vocational school or equivalent. College experience preferred.

This is a full-time, term-funded, Grade 79, minimum $26.08/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
