The CRCD Kuskokwim Campus is seeking an I/T Manager for our campus. The CRCD KuC LAN Manager oversees planning and operations for the campus technology department and its employees. As the KuC LAN Manager you will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, security of campus systems and components. You will also represent and advocate for campus technology interests and needs in the community and UA System, as well as provide user and desktop support and assistance for students, faculty, and staff both on and off-campus.
10 REPRESENTS AND ADVOCATES FOR CAMPUS TECHNOLOGY INTERESTS AND NEEDS
Advocates for the unique interests and needs of Kuskokwim Campus technology within the University of Alaska System. Builds and maintains relationships with the varied UAF’s OIT departments and personnel, participates in system-wide tech groups, and makes recommendations. 20 MANAGES AND OVERSEES CAMPUS TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Responsible for, takes lead, and provides advice in planning, implementation/guidance of campus technology to best serve the needs of the campus in its educational and operational goals. Organizes I/T staffing to further these efforts. Cooperates and works with Fairbanks I/T where appropriate to further these efforts. Strives to ensure campus technology meets the ongoing and changing needs of students, faculty and staff. Directs and leads Help Desk functions on campus. Manages, participates in technology purchasing, helps in developing budgets and substance for technology related grants. Provides regular updates and important tech information to users as needed. 25 RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLATION, OPERATION, MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS, UPGRADES AND SECURITY OF CAMPUS LAN AND ITS COMPONENTS
Administers and maintains local campus systems, monitors function, troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software, apply functional and security patches as needed. Installs, configures printers, >200 workstations, (4 structure complex). Be available to UAF I/T staff to maintain network hardware stationed in Bethel and connectivity to Fairbanks systems and Internet. Reports system and infrastructure issues to Main campus. Administers on a day-to-day basis campus phone system, video surveillance system, campus departmental file shares – including access, calendars, emergency notification and communication systems. The Kuskokwim Campus (KuC) is a branch of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) located in Bethel, Alaska. Completely off the road system and four hundred miles west of Anchorage, Bethel is a hub community for forty-seven Yup’ik villages in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, a geographic region roughly the size of the state of Louisiana. In-depth knowledge of Computer hardware, operating systems and application installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance in a networked environment. Familiarity with smart classrooms, distance delivery, Cisco phone systems, Cisco Video Surveillance, major office equipment like photocopiers, printers, FAX, scanners. Knowledge of learning management systems, content delivery systems and online delivery systems (like ZOOM or Blackboard). Openness and comfort with being involved in providing support to a wide variety of technology and academic/administrative users in a bandwidth-limited and semi-remote site. Experience in personnel management and managing a technology department including a budget. Experience with researching equipment purchase, contracts, maintenance agreements from vendors. Good interpersonal communication skills with employees and customers with a wide range of abilities and technology experience.
Holder of position should preferably have *at least* 2-3 years experience in managing or working with networks, servers, workstations, and in providing a system of user technical support at an organization. Experience in providing training on technology both in an individual and group setting. Experience successfully working independently in cross-cultural and rural settings.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Position requires academic training in a computer/technical field and/or industry training or certification and/or significant prior experience in the field. At least 1 year experience providing tech support with Windows/OSX with network environments. High School Diploma or GED.
