Position Summary:

The University of Alaska Anchorage Office of Admission is seeking an Events and Recruitment Coordinator. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Recruitment, the Events and Recruitment Coordinator coordinates, plans and executes UAA’s prospective students events, including Academic Preview Days, Junior Day, Honors Night, UA Scholars at UAA, Explore UAA Day and other events. The Recruitment Coordinator is also an active member of the UAA Office of Admissions recruitment team.

Duties:

20Assist in the coordination of recruitment travel, including researching travel costs and presenting various options to leadership. May be asked to assist in scheduling and booking travel. Coordinate the inventory and shipping of recruitment brochures and collateral and to regional recruitment staff and the purchase of office supplies. Responsible for the inventory of recruitment related supplies, including facilitating the reorder of supplies and the ordering of new items. Actively monitor and inventory recruitment related collateral items and research ideas for new, trending items. Prepare, submit and present budget proposals and requests as related to recruitment collateral items.Essential
30Work with Assistant Director and Executive Director to track prospective students, report on events, and provide feedback to partner units. Assist in planning and coordinating Green & Gold Visit Days including presenting, providing tours in absence of a student ambassador and counsel prospective students and families on admission requirements, educational opportunities, student services and other issues involved with enrollment (requires driving a university vehicle). Work closely with recruitment team and supervisor on larger on campus events to assure appropriate coverage and staffing of events. Active member of UAA’s recruitment team. Answers the main admissions telephone line, serves walk-in visitors with admissions related questions, perform data entry, assist in monitoring admission email accounts, attend/staff other recruitment events as needed.Essential
50Coordinate, plan and execute UAA’s prospective student events, including, but not limited to, Academic Preview Days, Junior Day, Honors Night, UA Scholars at UAA and Explore UAA Day. Coordinate with academic and other student services units to provide an engaging program for prospective students and their families, develop and provide appropriate materials for event guests. Coordinate and disseminate pre- and post event communication. Ensure adequate staffing for events and visit/event experience focused on positivity, excitement and marketing UAA. Participate in departmental assessment planning and conduct ongoing qualitative and quantitative assessments to measure and demonstrate program impact and performance. Analyze and interpret data. Prepare reports of findings for internal, stakeholder and public dissemination.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Excellent oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively verbally in front of small and large groups and to provide regular presentations and trainings.
Excellent written communication skills
Must be able to think quickly to resolve unexpected situations calmly and with tact and diplomacy
Event planning and organizational skills
Ability to manage competing deadlines, short and long term tasks
Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years professional full-time experience in an office or customer service setting
Experience in event planning or scheduling
Experience in public speaking
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required
UAA academic experience preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited institution and two years of relevant professional work experience.
UAA academic experience preferred.

 

This is a full-time, Grade 78, minimum $23.84/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
