The Office of the Registrar seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join its team as a Degree Completion Specialist. This professional plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the student record and providing a high standard of customer service. This position serves as an information resource specialist for graduation processing, Board of Regent and university policy, degree requirements and DegreeWorks to all of UAA, including its community campuses. 10 NCAA Eligibility and Compliance: Certify initial/transfer and continuing academic eligibility and compliance for student athletes under the applicable Division I or Division II NCAA rules. Work collaboratively with the UAA NCAA Athletic Compliance Officer. Essential
10 Provide superior front-line service to students, staff and faculty. Answer general Enrollment Services calls. Respond to emails and phone calls daily. Seek out and embrace cross-training opportunities to answer a broader array of questions and become a well-rounded resource. Essential
35 Serve as a primary point of contact for students, faculty and advisors on graduation and related processes: academic petitions, changes of major, declarations of minor, and more. Interpret academic regulations and requirements for students, faculty, staff, academic advisors and community campuses as they pertain to degree requirements. Liaise with academic units and assist students by connecting them with the appropriate resources. Determine student's eligibility for university honors. Award degrees and communicate outcome to students. Create and deliver specialized presentations to different audiences in a variety of settings. Research and analyze issues and offer solutions. Provide data specific to degree completion, applications for graduation and more. Support onboarding and ongoing training of peer Degree Completion Specialist, and cross train other Registrar’s Office staff. Regularly update area procedures manual and master calendar. 35 Serve as an expert resource for DegreeWorks, UAA’s degree auditing software. Scribe (code) and maintain over 100 degree and certificate programs in DegreeWorks for UAA, including its community campuses. Partner with academic departments, programmers, peers at other universities, and other stakeholders to research and introduce efficiencies and continuous improvements. 5 Process all degree verification requests from the National Student Clearinghouse and third parties, where appropriate. Research and analyze problems and issues, and offer solutions related to former students' files as they arise. Serve as primary point of contact for commencement and commencement-related publications for the Registrar's Office. Essential
5 Review curriculum changes submitted by academic departments to Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Boards to determine how changes will be implemented in DegreeWorks. Upon request and through the direct supervisor, compile and share degree completion and progress towards degree data to university leadership and various stakeholders. Essential

Two years’ experience working full time in a post-secondary educational environment or equivalent customer service environment where rules and regulations are applied to individual customers.
Required Education or Training:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or an associate’s degree from an accredited institution and 2+ years of transferable professional work experience as a substitute for a bachelor’s degree. Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, calendaring, email, and web browsers within the last 3-5 years is required. Familiarity with complex web applications, database management systems and SQL within the last 3-5 years is preferred.
This is a full-time,
Grade 78, minimum $23.84/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
