Position Summary:

As our Executive Director of Enterprise Application Services, you will work closely with University stake holders, business process owners and the Office of Information Technology leadership team to effectively translate business strategy and objectives into technological capability. The Executive Director drives strategy and manages resources to ensure best in class solutions that are of high quality, cost effective, innovative, and sustainable.

Duties:

100The Executive Director of Enterprise Application Services manages and leads the Enterprise Applications team in enabling effective enterprise use of systems. This position is responsible for overseeing the enterprise environment, including applications, integrations, contracts, upgrades, support and troubleshooting. The Executive Director coordinates with a diverse group of business unit stakeholders and technical partners to develop services, provide solutions, document procedures and resolve technical issues, in addition to ensuring data integrity with University business owners. The Executive Director will participate in the University’s development of strategy, processes, skills and operational practices for the support of cloud-based software applications and their interaction with the premises-based applications. In addition, this position is responsible for the management of the Enterprise Applications staff, including hiring, mentoring, assigning, supervising activities, support and performance evaluation. Additionally, the Executive Director: Plans, supervises, and coordinates new and innovative ERP programming requests and software acquisitions. Plans, supervises, and coordinates programming requests for new and innovative, internally developed enterprise applications in support of University operations. Provides oversight and leadership on University ERP and other enterprise application programming needs and makes recommendations for the purchase of enterprise-related equipment, software, and procurement of new services. Researches and selects vendors, reviews and negotiates contracts and maintenance agreements for software, hardware, and services within assigned areas of responsibilities. Manages vendor relationships focusing on cost containment and risk mitigation. Working with UA Procurement and General Counsel, ensures contracts and agreements are consistent with UA Policy and Procedures and State Procurement guidelines. Provides leadership in the research, identification and analysis of new and innovative projects that improve performance, reliability, and ease of use of ERP and other enterprise applications to help the University operate more effectively and efficiently. Maintains and/or supervises the installation, setup and maintenance of the University’s ERP and other enterprise applications and related servers including but not limited to customizations, hardware upgrades, software installation, patch management, server security, and file structure. Arranges for service of equipment as needed to ensure proper operation. Participates with other directors and managers within the Office of Information Technology in the development, implementation, interpretation, application, and update of policies, procedures, guidelines, and objectives related to the security and proper operation of the ERP and other enterprise applications. Provides leadership in advancing enterprise programming and system enhancement projects of reasonable scope. Creates and updates project plans including schedules, stakeholders, and budget information. Develops and maintains close collaborative working relationships with stakeholders and end-users. Serves as liaison between the Programming staff and users on the development and execution of programming projects. Develops, implements, and conducts end-user training sessions on the University's ERP, other enterprise applications, and any supported interfaces or applications used to extract data from the systems. Reviews and analyzes the testing of the ERP and other enterprise applications and/or programs to ensure completeness of controls, adherence to standards, security, completion of documentation, quality of output and efficiency of systems and programs. Engages end users in developing testing strategies and documentation that ensure maximum system and related application reliability. Supervises and provides leadership to the Enterprise Applications departmental staff including hiring, evaluating, training, developing work schedules, coordinating duties and assignments, and providing direction to all assigned personnel. Develops and maintains a Department Program Review that includes accomplishments and measurable goals as well as staffing and other resource requirements to improve department efficiency. Develops and monitors the budget for assigned programs. Analyzes and reviews budgetary and financial data. Controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established limitations. Works with the Chief Information Technology Officer to produce other various department specific plans including an Information Technology road map and reports including strategic goals, staffing plans, etc. Participates in local, statewide, and national groups to develop collaborative relationships related to areas of responsibility. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

ERP system development and maintenance.
Life cycle process for enterprise application development and ongoing support.
Formalized systems analysis techniques, structured design techniques, and information systems implementation modeling.
Linux, Unix and Oracle Operating Systems in an enterprise environment.
ERP hardware and software applicable to an educational environment.
Project management, project prioritization, and resource allocation.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five years of experience in the following areas: Managing, maintaining, integrating, migrating and upgrading ERP systems. Experience designing, developing and maintaining enterprise application solutions, content management systems, and analytics tools. Demonstrated success leading technical teams and managing complex projects. Experience drafting and maintaining institutional policies, roadmaps, and guidelines. Experience installing, implementing, maintaining and supporting vendor developed administrative systems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an information technology discipline such as computer science, engineering, or information systems is required. Education equivalent to a Master’s Degree in computer science, information science, management information systems (MIS), business administration, or a computer related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
