Position Summary:

The College of Health is seeking applications for Contact Tracers (Tier 1). *We are hiring for part-time and full-time temporary positions through this advertisement.


100Conduct daily monitoring of assigned contacts and/or cases including assessing if there have been any clinical changes, need for support services, or other needs to be converted to a Person Under Investigation (PUI) requiring a testing referral. Refer and or link individuals to appropriate resources if a need is identified. Document all monitoring efforts in the appropriate forms using the CommCare system. Provide information about the illness as well as public health guidance on isolation or quarantine protocols, health monitoring, and additional methods of disease prevention and control not deviating from any SOA provided guidance or scripts. Communicate with contacts and/or cases using your personal phone or assigned computer in a professional empathetic manner utilizing effective communication skills. Access and document investigations only on UAA issued Google Chromebooks. Maintain daily contact with supervisor.Essential

  • Fluent in local cultures, including spoken languages
  • Have a working knowledge of the public health, healthcare, community, and mental health resources to which they will be referring individuals

  • Health-related background or current health professions students
  • Second or multiple languages
  • Alaska Resident

  • Health Professions Program Students including AHEC Scholars
  • Community health workers, Community Health Aides, Behavioral Health Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Health teachers, school counselors and other health-related personnel
  • Interested Applicants must complete - ASTHO Making Contact: Training for covid-19 Contact Tracers AND
    - SOA DHSS: Mandatory Reporter Training to be considered for the position.

High school graduation 

Technology Requirements:

  • Stage 1: PC with Windows 10 with a current Security Suite installed that is actively protecting your computer; or Mac with Apple OS X 10.13 or greater with a Security Suite installed that is actively protecting your computer; or a Chromebook,; or an IPad, or an Android tablet. A telephone is required for this job, preferably with a headset.
  • Stage 2: A telephone is required for this job, preferably with a headset.

Hourly Rate:  $17.14

Schedule:  “Shifts are available 7 days per week, 11am-3pm, 2:30pm-6:30pm or 11am-6:30pm AKST”

Interested Applicants must complete the following external training to be considered for the position.

1. Making Contact: A Training for COVID-19 Case Investigators and Contact Tracers

3. Complete the Contact Tracing Pre-Assessment.

4. Review all lessons and complete the quizzes/assessments after each one.

5. Complete the Contact Tracing Training Evaluation (required to receive your certificate).

6. Download and save your Certificate of Completion to your computer.

SOA DHSS: Mandatory Reporter Training

1. Log into DHSS’s learning management system.

2. Either created a new account or log into an existing account.

3. Make sure you search and complete for the Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter training at

Assignment Information:
Temporary, Non-Exempt, Hourly, 10-29 hours per week, not eligible for health care
