100 The Student Leadership & Involvement (SLI) Student Assistant is responsible for planning programs which promote leadership and/or volunteering. These include but are not limited to monthly Student Opportunities for Service, Leadership workshops, Leadership retreats, etc. This position will also recruit program participants and collaborate with other campus student leaders and groups.
All members of the SLI team are expected to support and promote the SLI program as a whole and work collaboratively on program offerings. The SLI team works together to run the SLI office so there will also be a significant amount of time spent interacting with students, answering the phone, answering questions and providing general office support. Ability to work 20 hours per week, some of which will be evenings and weekends.
Ideal candidates will have a genuine interest in student leadership development, campus involvement and volunteerism. They will also possess excellent organizational skills, computer skills and a desire to promote leadership, involvement and volunteer experience opportunities to fellow students.
Ability to give a favorable impression to the public in appearance and behavior; adapt to changes in workload; work independently with limited supervision and in cooperation with other employees; possess attention to detail/organizational skills, be able to multi-task and handle difficult/stressful situations with diplomacy and finesse; abide by all local and state laws and University regulations.

Typical Education or Training:
Applicant must be enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
