We are looking for a strong UAF supporter to join our dynamic advancement division! As part of the UAF Development team, the development strategist will help grow the university's benefactor base by leading complex proposals and report development to support gift conversations led by development officers. The successful candidate will be a liaison to our gift officers, allowing them to connect donors to the university in meaningful ways to inspire gifts of significance. This person will also work with the UA Foundation to support the overall development strategies and goals. The successful candidate will demonstrate a respectfully curious nature, professionalism through written and verbal communications, resourcefulness, critical thinking, attention to detail, creative problem solving and a thorough understanding of the UAF and UA programs, systems, and hierarchy.
10 10% Other: Responsible for participating in and supporting events that are associated with major gift fundraising activities and initiatives. In addition, this position plays a key role on the development and alumni relations team through participation in and/or review of printed materials, professional publications, or web-based content.
The successful candidate will participate in relevant internal meetings, attend professional development workshops and conferences in order to remain educated in advancement, fundraising, and PR/marketing strategies that will advance UAF's mission and fundraising success. 20 20% Data Analytics: Communicate regularly with the UA Foundation data team to obtain and analyze data, and develop and interpret reports to support the activities of UAF development, including proposal development, lead generation, development officer activity reports, and gift reports. 70 70% Proposal and Report Development: The development strategist is critical for creating, designing and writing gift proposals and impact reports. This includes researching content as well as requesting and analyzing data to include in proposals and reports. The development strategist will use design software or work with University Relations to create major gift proposals and impact reports, including the development of info-graphics and design elements.
The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with the major gift division in proposal creation, submission, and tracking. This position will assist with coordinating proposal and report development with interdepartmental staff and faculty for content. This work may include leading meetings, fact and content gathering from faculty and staff for solicitation proposals, circulating drafts for review, and submitting proposals on behalf of the team via online giving portals. This work also extends to the same scope for impact reports.
The development strategist will work closely with Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, and the Engagement Team to strategize best use of campus partners for events and activities in alignment with strategic stewardship activities.
The development strategist will coordinate with University Relations in determining communication strategy surrounding gift celebrations to align with development and engagement strategies for major gift benefactors.
Project management platforms will be used to organize, and report activity. The most common platform used is Basecamp, but others may be adopted to achieve success in this position. Demonstrated knowledge of philanthropic support, program evaluation methodology, project management, and communication preferred. Ability to speak clearly and concisely, while also being inclusive, and welcoming. Ability to exercise judgement in analyzing situations and making decisions. Ability to provide sound advice to internal and external stakeholders. Advanced knowledge of research methodology. Problem solving and negotiation skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently. Advanced ability to collect, analyze and interpret data. Ability to write, negotiate, conclude, and administer complex proposals and reports. Knowledge of best practices in project management and project management technology preferred.
Five years of relevant experience in grant/professional writing, program management, donor relations, fundraising, development, or communication.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration, or a relevant field. Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
This is a full-time,
Grade 80, minimum $2,257.60 biweekly, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
