The Department of Residence Life is seeking an individual to join a diverse team. The Student Success Coordinator will be responsible for the supervision and success of Residence Life Living Learning Communities, including enrollment and campus collaboration, as well as outcome development and assessment. The coordinator position is live-on and will also supervise Resident Directors, perform adjudication of student conduct issues, and serve on secondary on-call.
10 10% - The Student Success Coordinator directly supervises 2-3 Resident Directors and indirectly supervises live-in hall staff (Resident Assistants, Peer Mentors, and Nook Concierges) working with LLCs in the residence halls. 20 20% - Position serves in an on-call crisis intervention/duty rotation for entire student population of issues such as suicide, sexual assault, alcohol/drug abuse and other emergency issues.
Serves as a student conduct administrator, including for appeal cases and higher level conduct cases. Essential
20 20% - Represents and speaks on behalf of the department at both University and outside functions and activities.
Encourages responsible behavior among Residence Life staff and students by establishing and communicating behavioral expectations that encourage and influence the development of responsible behavior, facilitates the development of an environment which stimulates student responsibility and accountability within the residence life community, and encourages the appreciation of diversity.
Actively participates in professional organizations and facilitates interaction with other institutions of higher education.
In conjunction with the Director, Associate Director, other Assistant Directors and Coordinators, provides appropriate and timely responses to system-wide or building specific needs, emergencies, or other situations requiring central office intervention, including participation in a rotational, on call schedule.
Contributes to a work and learning environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or development courses required by the Associate Director.
Develops, implements, and administers active and passive experiences to increase students’ success in the classroom and to support the growing diverse student populations.
Supports student success and provides students with a supportive and dynamic on-campus living-learning environment.
Supports the overall operation of Residence Life and contributes to the accomplishment of its mission and goals by performing other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Residence Life for Housing. Essential
50 50% - Develops and implements Living Learning Communities (LLC) in conjunction with the Associate Director.
Recruit, engage, and establish strong collaborative relationships with all LLC partners by providing support to them, through advising and making recommendations, to carry out the mission of their communities.
Coordinates and Conducts LLC meetings monthly for the LLC teams that include Resident Directors and Resident Assistants for each LLC.
Participates and makes recommendations in the selection process and training programs of Resident Assistants and staff members working with LLCs. Includes, planning developmental and professional growth opportunities, and providing on-going training, supervision, and evaluations.
Plans and hosts the LLC program retreats every fall and spring semester.
Manages the LLC budget.
Implements the comprehensive assessment of the LLC program.
Coordinates the marketing, promotion, application, and student selection recruitment processes associated with the LLCs, including development of the LLC program at UAF.
Point of contact for the LLCs and communication regarding the program.
Creates, distributes, and coordinates flyers, table tents, email, social media communication. Provides content and updates to the LLC website. Website is used to inform students of the academic support resources available to them.
Coordinates, directs, and organizes all LLC Welcome Events. Responsible for the success of these events. Essential
The ability to establish positive working relationships with individuals of varying backgrounds and to organize activities and information to meet specific established goals is required. A demonstrated ability to perform in a problem-solving capacity and to work independently is required. The ability to design and implement educational and social experiences for residence life audiences is required. Effective communication skills, including interpersonal communication, presentations, and writing skills and effective organizational skills are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
At least two years of experience as a Resident Director or other related student affairs position within higher education, including programming, progressive supervisory experience, and working with an academic or learning community is required. Experience incorporating multi-cultural and multi-perspective experiences for students that are needed to succeed in a global, broadly diverse society is preferred. Experience working in a diverse environment and/or with students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education or another related field of study is preferred.
This is a full-time,
Grade 79, minimum $2,086.40 biweekly, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
