Position Summary:

Gain sales experience, customer service and leadership skills while supporting student media at UAF! This is an excellent opportunity for current UAF students hoping to pursue a career in sales, marketing or advertising.

Duties:

100The Student Media Sales Director will support advertising and underwriting sales and merchandise sales for KSUA 91.5 FM and Polaris, UAF's student-run radio station and newspaper. This brand-new student position will work closely with student leaders from KSUA and Polaris, as well as with staff in the Center for Student Engagement to build a robust underwriting and advertising program for Student Media. The Student Media Sales Director can expect to learn: -Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules related to underwriting -Basic contract negotiation -Client relationship management -Online order fulfillment The Student Media Sales Director may also contribute to social media marketing, audience research and other projects supporting KSUA and Polaris. The Student Media Sales Director can expect to exercise critical thinking and problem-solving skills while maintaining close attention to detail. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

-Familiarity with word processing software (such as Microsoft Word)
-Ability under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
-Willingness to learn FCC regulations regarding underwriting
-Willingness to work independently with self-motivation to meet goals and deadlines
-Excellent customer service and oral and written communication skills
-Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

-Preferred: Prior experience in customer service, retail, sales, advertising or marketing

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

-Applicants must be currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours and must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher.

-This is a Student Assistant C; minimum starting pay is $10.50 per hour.

-Applicants must be enrolled as UAF students taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
