Position Summary:

The Department of Geological Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), invites applications for a full-time, two year, term funded faculty position at the rank of Term Instructor responsible laboratory coordination, and lecture and laboratory instruction in Geology. **This recruitment is open internally to current UA employees or those otherwise eligible to apply to internal postings.

Duties:

100This position will conduct instructional activity and service as part of a bipartite workload. Candidate will teach lower division geology courses, to include lecture and labs. This is a full-time Term Instructor position with a 2 year term contract with the College of Arts and Sciences - Department of Geological Sciences.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Candidates must have documented, successful experience teaching lecture-based introductory geology courses at the college level, specifically Physical Geology, Environmental Geology, and Historical Geology (or their respective equivalents) and associated laboratory courses. Candidates should show evidence of laboratory coordination experience relevant to the position as well as supervisory experience for managing student teaching assistants or lab assistants. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to work with students and sensitivity to diverse student populations. Collegiality is a must.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Length of time and type of experience required for this position should be appropriate to the rank of Term Instructor.

College level teaching experience required.
