UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS, THE COLLEGE OF NATURAL SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Environmental/Organic Chemistry, tenure track position.
Assist Department and University to develop and maintain academic programs. Essential
Develop independent research program that engages undergraduate and graduate students.
Pursue external funding to support this program.
Publish results in the peer-reviewed literature. Essential
50 Teaching :
Teach organic and general chemistry and a specialty graduate course.
Flexibility to fill departmental needs in teaching.
Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Essential
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in organic chemistry or related discipline; postdoctoral experience is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous research program that complements existing strengths in Environmental Chemistry and/or Biochemistry and Neuroscience, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and teach undergraduate organic and general chemistry and graduate courses in Environmental Chemistry. The department maintains modern research instrumentation including 600 MHz NMR and UAF has access to state-of-the art computational facilities. Review of applications will begin on March 10, 2021. Organic and Environmental Chemistry, ability to teach, perform research, and mentor students. Ability to develop an effective externally funded research program in Environmental Chemistry.
PhD (or equivalent) in Chemistry or related discipline, research experience in areas related to Environmental Chemistry (required), Postdoctoral research experience (desirable). Record of quality and relevant peer-reviewed publications to this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
PhD (or equivalent) in Chemistry or related discipline, research experience in areas related to Environmental Chemistry. Must be able to teach courses in undergraduate organic chemistry and in the designated research area at the graduate level.
