Position Summary:

The Ketchikan Campus of the University of Alaska Southeast seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Writing and Communication. This is a nine-month tenure track position covered by a collective bargaining agreement. This position requires the successful candidate to work on the Ketchikan campus.

Duties:

100The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching approximately 12 hours per semester of undergraduate courses in a manner consistent with the specific course content description. Faculty is expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught, and advise undergraduate students. Perform appropriate University and public service.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Experience working with developmental writing students.
Experience in assessment of writing portfolios.
Significant experience teaching using web-based course management systems.
Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals.
Experience interpreting and using data related to student retention.
Experience teaching students from a wide diversity of backgrounds.
Have a high degree of working knowledge of computers.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Three years previous teaching writing and communication general education courses at the college level required. Evidence of distance delivered as well as traditional classroom-delivered teaching experience. Experience teaching diverse student populations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Master's degree or higher in English or closely related field is acceptable.

Preferred:
PhD/ABD i Composition.
