100Provide clerical and administrative support for the UAF Community & Technical College and Partners for Progress in Delta. Duties include but are not limited to: • Serve as first point of contract with clientèle by telephone and in person, providing customer care. • Perform administrative and clerical duties to meet established deadlines. • Maintain contacts list to distribute information as needed. • Maintain office files • Maintain and prepare student data reports as required. • Assist each partner as appropriate for the delivery of programs in the building. • Assist students with registration and fee payment processes. • Identify course want/need in the Delta/Ft. Greely areas. • Develop general academic class schedules, classroom scheduling, etc. • Develop and maintain a list of qualified and available adjunct instructors. • Develop, communicate and interpret information about program curriculum and delivery. • Develop and promote positive university-community linkages to ensure the successful implementation of multiple program course activities. • Create and ongoing assessments for course offerings in the area. • Assist with processes to address student concerns relating to courses, grade appeals, etc.Essential

UAF CTC is responsive to local and regional vocational and technical training needs, and focuses on career training and workforce development to meet the needs of the region and the state. UAF CTC offers 40 associate degrees, certificates, and occupational endorsements at 9 locations throughout Fairbanks and the Tanana Valley of Interior Alaska.  UAF CTC's programs also provide students with the academic framework to help them achieve their higher education goals, whether it is to complete and associate of arts degree or transfer to a baccalaureate program.  Staff and faculty have forged close ties with businesses and local agencies, enhancing instruction and increasing job placements.

UAF CTC employs a diverse population of approximately 30 full-time faculty and 200 adjunct faculty who are represented by two unions and a staff of about 30. Approximately 3000 students attend UAF CTC. They are culturally diverse and include many non-traditional students and students from the military community. 


The successful candidate will have:

  •  Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  •  Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  •  Excellent writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar for correspondence and reports.
  •  Demonstrated proficiency with MS products (Excel, MS Word), websites/web browsers, sending and receiving email, sending and downloading electronic documents through the Internet, and the ability to use computer scheduling programs.
  •  Excellent customer service skills.
  •  Ability to work independently; determine priorities; meet multiple deadlines.
  •  Basic fiscal skills.
  •  Attention to detail. 
  •  Previous experience working with the public and with diverse populations.
  •  Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.


6 months to 3 years office/administrative experience or equivalent and experience working with the public.

Experience performing delegated administrative and clerical duties to meet established deadlines.

Experience courteously handling and dealing with a wide variety of public contact both on the telephone and in person and work cooperatively with a wide variety of people.


High school diploma or equivalent.
