Position Summary:

The WWAMI School of Medical is currently hiring adjunct faculty positions. Educational Transcript copy is required.

Duties:

100Your job duties will include the following: You will serve as a Foundations guide and work closely with UWSOM and UAA faculty at the WWAMI site in developing, adapting and deploying the Foundations Phase curriculum in Anchorage. This will involve working closely with curriculum leaders in the School of Medicine and the UAA WWAMI program. Teach in one or more of the 7 blocks in the new 18-month Foundations Phase Curriculum. This will include preparing for classes, facilitating student learning during classes & reviewing and discussing assignments, following up on a regular basis with students or as needed, student remediation, serving as a resource for medical students, submitting evaluations in a timely fashion, participating in faculty meetings and committee work of the WWAMI curriculum, inter-professional education and service-learning activities as assigned.Essential
About WWAMI School of Medical Education:
WWAMI is a cooperative arrangement between UAA, the University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM), and other states in the WWAMI consortium (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho); Alaskans are accepted into the program and receive their classroom phase of medical school at UAA.

Position Information:
Adjunct faculty position teaching course(s) for the Fall/Spring/Summer semester

This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment nor does having worked one semester guarantee an offer of employment in the following semester. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The physician must meet the requirements for appointment to the faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Past experience must include clinical teaching with medical students. 

Required Experience:
Two years relevant experience Temporary Physician Faculty . 

Preferred Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of clinical practice and teaching is preferred with some of this experience having occurred in the Anchorage medical community
  • Education, training and experience in a primary care field of medicine. 
  • Prior experience and involvement with the WWAMI program. 

Typical Education or Training:
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree and be board certified in an American Board of Medical Specialties recognized medical specialty.
